![]() I haven't used the Skinceuticals but I've used other water-based 15% serums and found them effective. I have to skip a day or two when using it, but I do notice results with it. I find it to be a bit irritating due to the low ph. I find timeless to be just as effective and far more affordable. ![]() Only Skinceuticals is at the optimal range of 2.5-3.0. A ph of 2.4 will effectively penetrate the skin so even though the percentage is only 15%, it’s actually effective vs the higher ph serums with a higher percentage of ascorbic. Timeless vitamin c is at 2.4 ph which is just below the patent held by Skinceuticals. this is why so many people with sensitive skin have issues with ascorbic acid. The problem with going to a ph of below 2.5 is it becomes irritating. So you may purchase a vitamin C serum at a higher percentage, but it’s not as effective since that extra percentage isn’t actually penetrating due to the wrong ph. Skinceuticals owns a patent on all ascorbic between 2.5-3.0 ph so other formulations are typically higher. Ascorbic acid needs to be at 3.5 or lower to effectively penetrate the skin.
